DUMPED PT. II

we went for a drive.

away from the lights and the lifeless, all those countless empty eyes reflecting only surface judgments. in its hypnotic and winding way, LA laid claim to the creatures of the night, providing shade and solace from the probing Socratic spotlights of light and law enforcement.

soporific drones of the everyday could never understand her mounting anxiety towards sunrise. they were not helping. they had 'their' eyes. eyes alive with borrowed imagery and petty pernicious pre-packaged judgements. those eyes, blind and steady, requiring no brain to understand and no understanding to see...

that was the last time they complained about my night job. they said they didn't approve of the way I lived my life. well, I didn't approve of theirs.
